Discover more from The Muse Letter
This is just a little note to say that while I am enjoying my free time between the now monthly Muse Letters (if you missed the info read here why), I have finally had the time to do something I have been thinking about for the last three years.
And finally, I got the timing just right.
Some of you know that apart from writing I also do a lot of visual art. In May I had my first solo exhibition Things I Have Loved x Noticed at Agitate Gallery in Edinburgh with large-scale cyanotype prints and small riso-printed photography vignettes which were inter-connected with excerpts from my two books of essays. To me being an artist is always a multi-disciplinary endeavor. I don’t see a reason to put myself in only one box, creativity is a stream that once you tap into, it’s hard to control. And I prefer not to.
I like to think of anything I do as a Gesamtkunstwerk. The German term Gesamtkunstwerk, roughly translates as a "total work of art" and describes an artwork, design, or creative process where different art forms are combined to create a single cohesive whole.
– It’s how I produce, write, and design my books, how I run Muse Letter Publishing, it’s basically how I like to approach life really.
So today I’m very excited to share my latest piece, something I’ve been wanting to do for so long.
Introducing the first Muse Letter Publishing: Artist Wall Calendar 2024
Each month features a bespoke blue riso-printed photograph vignette printed on high-quality birch paper giving it a unique structured finish.
The vibrant blue monochrome color and unique designs make this calendar a work of art in itself.
It is bound with a black foldback clip, in the spirit of its minimal design, and is thus easily hung on walls.
