Summer solstice. Half-way through. Being at the top. The longest day and the shortest night. Collecting flowers for crowns. Looking into the fire. Having visions of future-selfs visiting us in our dreams.
Today it’s time to evaluate what has happened the first half of this year and what will come for the next.
Summer solstice is a time that tells us: This is the peak. After it the nights in the northern hemisphere will slowly get longer again, even though we might not feel it for a long time. It’s a reminder to save momentum, to celebrate the good that’s there, to collect and to harvest.
As I am preparing my own midsummer gathering tonight, I want to offer some ideas to do and to think about today:
wildflowers are everywhere these days, fill your hands with a few, create a little bouquet and put them in a vase to marvel at
write a list of all the things that didn’t go right the first half of this year, burn it and forgive yourself
make a wish some…
