When I was still at Uni our professor – a man that swam every morning 1O km through a lake and then cycled to work – told us how he finds time to relax.
Before a holiday he would overcommit to things and take on projects like he always did and then he would forget his laptop on the way to the airport or he accidentally would leave all the important documents in the wrong bag only to realise upon arriving he had no other choice but to just deal with it all when he comes back. He proclaimed that he trusted that at some point things would just fall away. A sort of natural work elimination process. If he could be too stressed to forget, then it probably wasn’t that important anyway.
This was of course a joke but I find myself often doing the same.
When something is off people either under-function or over-function, depending on your personality type and stamina. But in the end, everybody meets at the same point.
There’s really no way around it. So I decided to go there immediately without further ado.
